About St. Barbara School History
Start
St. Barbara School established
St. Barbara Catholic School, a TK-8 parish school serving the city of Santa Ana and the surrounding communities, was opened in 1963. St. Barbara Catholic School’s founding pastor was Monsignor Collins.

Expansion for More Classes
In September 1965, the building originally used as the Church became available to accommodate a second classroom of each level. A parish hall/gym was built in 1967 with an annex added in 1977.

Technology Infrastructure
In the late 1980s, improvements were made to the playground along with the addition of a computer lab, faculty lounge, and library expansion.
Funding for Campus Improvements
During the 1990s, a 3-year capital campaign in conjunction with the Pastoral Services Appeal led to securing sufficient funds for expansion and improvement of the facilities. The $2.1 million facility improvements included the redesign of the parking lot and school playground/field. A new school building housing two kindergartens, a multimedia center, a fine arts classroom, a teacher workroom, and a physical education/athletics room was completed by the summer of 2002.

Summer 2024 Renovations
Blessed by Shea Family Charities
“From reassigning classrooms to relocating the administrative office and staff lounge, St. Barbara Catholic School underwent the largest transformation over the summer. The campus, which opened in 1963, now has a fresh, modern vibe and new outdoor learning space for the students. The remodel also included new lighting, roof repairs, improved bathrooms, paint, security cameras, an intercom system and new drinking fountains.”
